Tom Swem has been a member of the San Luis Obispo Association of REALTORS® since 1976 and he opened his own office, Real Property Investments, in 1979. He received the designation of GRI in 1981 and the coveted CCIM designation in 2004.
In his work with organized real estate, Tom was the President of the San Luis Obispo Association of REALTORS® in 1983 and has chaired numerous committees for the San Luis Obispo Association including: Many terms in Professional Standards, Education, Grievance and two terms as the Multiple Listing Service Chairman.

He is a former C.A.R. Director, currently an Arbitrator and Mediator of the San Luis Obispo Association of REALTORS® as well as for C.A.R. with 'Interboard Dispute Resolution' and is a Master Instructor for C.A.R.. He is also a qualified expert witness for the San Luis Obispo Superior Court system and the United States Bankruptcy Court in Santa Barbara.

Tom’s practice currently consists of Commercial sales and leasing, Residential sales Buyers Brokerage, and Professional Consulting. He has two commercial agents working under his license. Personally, Tom is an avid guitar player and collector as well as a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
